Noctua ventilator NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM — 80 mm, 4-pins PWM, 12V, 1800 tpm, 53,3 CFM

Noctua NF-R8 redux is an 80mm premium case and chassis fan designed for quiet cooling in compact systems. It delivers reliable airflow and long-term durability through an industry-grade SSO bearing and a proven NF-R8 frame adapted into a streamlined, cost-effective redux edition. The 1800 RPM PWM variant includes Noctua’s NE-FD1 PWM IC for automatic speed control to balance cooling performance and acoustic levels.

Advantages

The redux edition preserves the NF-R8’s established quietness and build quality while offering a more accessible price point. Smooth Commutation Drive 2 reduces torque variations and switching noise for very low operational noise, and the SSO bearing provides enhanced rotor stabilisation and longevity with an MTBF above 150,000 hours. The fan is supported by Noctua’s optional accessories and a full 6 years manufacturer’s warranty for added flexibility and reliability.

Key specifications

• Size: 80 mm
• Speed: 1800 RPM (PWM version)
• Bearing: SSO (self-stabilising oil-pressure bearing)
• Control: NE-FD1 PWM IC (automatic speed control)
• MTBF: >150,000 hours
• Warranty: 6 years manufacturer’s warranty

How to use

Install the NF-R8 redux in your compact case or chassis using the supplied mounting screws or optional anti-vibration mounts. Connect the fan to a PWM-capable header on your motherboard or to an appropriate fan controller to enable automatic speed regulation via the NE-FD1 PWM IC. Ensure correct airflow direction and secure cabling to avoid contact with the blades. Periodically inspect and clean the fan to maintain performance.

Recommendations

For quieter operation in low-demand systems, consider using Noctua Low-Noise-Adaptors or a motherboard fan curve to reduce maximum RPM. Optional anti-vibration mounts and extension cables can help tailor installation to your setup.
