Potlood Faber-Castell TK 9400 4B zwart

The Faber-Castell TK 9400 clutch pencil in 4B delivers a classic and reliable drawing tool designed for artists, technicians and students. It features a slender, evenly balanced shaft with the balance point towards the tip, ergonomic finger grooves for secure handling and strong jaws that grip the 3.15 mm lead firmly. The pencil produces deep, dark lines thanks to its 4B black core and is suitable for sketching, shading and detailed work.

Advantages

The TK 9400 combines an ergonomic design with stable lead clamping: finger grooves improve grip comfort during extended use while the powerful jaws prevent lead slip. Its balanced, slender shaft supports precise control near the tip. The 4B lead supplies rich black pigment for smooth strokes, easy blending and pronounced tonal contrasts.

Suitable for

• Sketching and quick studies
• Shading and tonal work
• Technical drawing where a soft, dark line is required
• Art classes and student use

How to use

Advance the lead by pressing the release mechanism and pulling back the sleeve or by using the clutch jaw action, depending on the specific clutch mechanism. Position the pencil close to the tip for fine control and apply varied pressure for different tonal values; softer pressure yields lighter lines, firmer pressure produces darker, broader strokes. When the lead becomes dull, retract and extend a fresh segment and sharpen the tip with a suitable pointer or lead sharpener designed for clutch leads.

Recommendations

Store the pencil horizontally or with the tip up to avoid accidental breakage of the exposed lead. Use paper suitable for graphite work to get optimal shading and blending results. For precise technical lines, use lighter grades from the TK 9400 series; reserve 4B for expressive sketching and deep shading.
