RCA-gender-changer EFB Elektronik EB494

The EFB Elektronik EB494 white RCA gender changer provides a compact and simple solution for converting the connector gender between two RCA cables. Designed for use with standard composite audio and video leads, this adapter ensures physical compatibility between male and female RCA plugs and helps maintain a stable connection in home audio–visual setups.

Advantages

The adapter features plated connectors and a rigid housing to reduce contact resistance and maintain signal continuity. Its small footprint and lightweight construction make it convenient to position behind equipment or inside AV cabinets without adding bulk. The neutral white finish blends with many cable and device colors used in consumer AV systems.

Suitable for

• Extending or adapting RCA audio connections between devices
• Joining composite video cables in entertainment systems
• Temporary or permanent installations behind TVs, receivers, and DVD/Blu‑ray players
• Testing or troubleshooting AV cable runs

Key specifications

• Connector type: RCA gender changer (female-to-female mechanical adapter)
• Color: white
• Construction: compact, rigid housing for space-limited installations
• Compatible signal types: analog audio and composite video
• Typical impedance: suitable for consumer line-level audio and standard composite video

How to use

Align the RCA male plugs of the two cables with the corresponding sockets of the gender changer and insert them until fully seated to ensure firm mechanical and electrical contact. Use the adapter at the point where a connector gender mismatch prevents direct cable-to-device or cable-to-cable mating. Avoid forcing connectors at an angle; if resistance is felt, check for debris or damaged plugs before reconnecting.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, use the gender changer with properly terminated RCA cables and keep cable lengths within recommended ranges for analog audio and composite video to minimise degradation. If long cable runs or professional-grade signal integrity are required, consider using higher-specification cabling or balanced connections where appropriate.
