Advantages

The PodMic USB delivers warm, detailed vocal capture via a high-power neodymium dynamic capsule and includes internal and external pop filtering plus an internal shockmount to reduce plosives and vibrations. Dual connectivity (XLR and USB Type-C) enables both traditional studio setups and plug-and-play computer or mobile device recording. Built-in APHEX® DSP and Revolution Preamp™ provide on-board processing options such as high-pass filter, noise gate, compressor, Aural Exciter™ and Big Bottom™. A zero-latency headphone output with level control allows direct monitoring. The microphone is compact, durable and backed by a multi-year manufacturer warranty.

Select the PodMic USB as the input device in your recording software or device settings. Use the on-board DSP controls and VoxLab presets through the RØDE Companion software (or device-compatible app) to shape high-pass filter, gate, compression and enhancement settings. Monitor audio through the zero-latency headphone output and adjust headphone level via the rotary control on the microphone.

Recommendations

Position the microphone 15–30 cm from the speaker and use the included external pop filter for reduced plosives. For best vocal clarity, use the high-pass filter to remove low-frequency rumble and engage the noise gate when recording in untreated or noisy environments. When using XLR, ensure your audio interface gain is set to achieve clear levels without clipping.
