Rugzak DEUTER Fox 40L — binnenframe, 40 L, 1,26 kg, toploader, blauw

The Deuter Fox 40L is a trekking backpack redesigned for kids and teens with the same technical layout and functionality as adult models but scaled and adapted for younger users. It features an internal frame and a Vari-Quick back length adjustment so the pack can grow with the child. With a top loading opening and a separate bottom compartment, the pack is built for multi-day hikes and outdoor activities while keeping comfort and fit in focus.

Advantages

The backpack combines an adjustable Vari-Quick back system with pull-forward and compact hip fins, S-shaped shoulder straps with a Soft-Edge finish, and an Aircontact ventilation system to provide a close, comfortable fit and good load transfer. Practical elements include a lid compartment, zippered bellows pocket, stretch side pockets, compression straps, material loops and a pole holder, plus an elastic inner compartment and compatibility with a 3.0 L drinking reservoir. The construction is PFAS-free.

Suitable for

When it may not be suitable

The Deuter Fox 40L is designed for children and adolescents; adults or very large teenagers may find the fit too small despite the adjustable back length. It is optimized for hiking and trekking rather than technical alpine climbing or heavy, specialized expedition loads.

Key specifications

How to use

Adjust the Vari-Quick back length to match the wearer’s torso before loading the pack. Position and fasten the hip fins snugly on the hips to transfer weight from the shoulders, then adjust load lifters and the sternum belt for a stable fit. Use the top loading compartment for main gear, the separate bottom compartment for sleeping bag or shoes, and the elastic inner pocket to separate wet or sweaty items. Attach poles to the pole holder and store small items in the lid and bellows pockets. Install a compatible hydration reservoir if needed.

What to consider before purchase

Recommendations

For best comfort, fit the pack on the child with a normal load before long trips: set the back length, tighten the hip fins, and balance load distribution between the main compartment and the bottom section. Regularly check straps and fit during multi-day outings to avoid pressure points as the load or clothing layers change.
