Stationaire barcodeler Newland FM430 Barracuda 1D 2D CMOS zwart

The Newland FM430 Barracuda is a fixed bar code reader with a megapixel CMOS camera designed to read both 1D and 2D barcodes quickly and reliably. Featuring wired RS-232 connectivity and USB power, the compact, lightweight scanner (75 g) supports handsfree or manual operation and has an IP54 rating for resistance to dust and moisture. Intelligent sensors and adjustable lighting make it suitable for scanning from mobile screens and in low-light conditions.

Advantages

The FM430 Barracuda combines a high-resolution megapixel sensor with an IR sensor and ambient light sensor to deliver fast, accurate reads of small and standard 1D/2D codes. Its programmable lighting adapts automatically to reflected light, improving performance on phone displays and under varying illumination. The unit offers optional bright red laser aiming for intuitive targeting, low USB power consumption, and a robust IP54 rating for reliable use in semi-exposed environments.

How to use

Install the FM430 Barracuda in a fixed position using a compatible mount or housing and connect the unit via RS-232 for data and USB for power. Configure the device with the required scan modes and enable either handsfree (sensor-triggered) or manual trigger operation. Adjust aiming and range settings as needed; the built-in programming automatically tunes supplementary lighting based on reflected light to optimise reads from printed labels and mobile screens.

Recommendations

For consistent scanning performance, position the scanner so barcodes pass within the specified read window and avoid extreme glare angles on mobile screens. When used outdoors, install the reader in a protective housing to maintain IP54 protection and prevent direct exposure to heavy water or dust sources.
