Storage-autolader & -bibliotheek Quantum SuperLoader 3 bandcassette SAS 2700 GB/h

The Quantum SuperLoader 3 is an entry-level automated tape storage appliance designed for small businesses and remote office environments. This 2U rack-mounted autoloader supports LTO tape technology and provides offline, air-gapped protection for backups and long-term archives. It connects via Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) with 12 Gbit/s interface and delivers high throughput for backup and restore operations while remaining compact and simple to administer.

Advantages

The SuperLoader 3 combines the economy and reliability of tape with automated media handling, barcode-based inventory, and proactive remote management. It supports hardware AES-256 encryption and WORM cartridges for compliance and secure retention, and its bundled DATASTOR Shield software adds deduplication to reduce stored data up to 20:1 with LTO-9. The device can scale capacity as needs grow and offers fast sustained transfer rates up to 750 MB/sec (with compression) for efficient backups.

Suitable for

• Small offices and branch sites needing offline, air-gapped backups
• SMBs requiring long-term archival and compliance (WORM, encryption)
• Environments with limited IT staff that need a simple-to-manage tape autoloader

How to use

Install the SuperLoader 3 into a standard 19-inch rack using the 2U height. Connect the device to your backup server or host via the SAS interface and configure the management software to enable remote monitoring and intelligent diagnostics. Load LTO cartridges into the magazine, verify barcode inventory, and configure backup jobs in your backup application or use the included DATASTOR Shield software with deduplication enabled. For encrypted backups, enable AES-256 hardware encryption and manage keys according to your security policy.

Recommendations

Use certified LTO cartridges matching the supported generation and test restore procedures periodically. Maintain a rotation schedule and offsite storage for critical archives to ensure air-gapped protection. Apply firmware updates and monitor diagnostics to ensure reliable long-term operation.
