TP-Link TL-WA801N draadloos access point 300 Mbit/s wit Power over Ethernet (PoE)

The TP-LINK Wireless N Access Point TL-WA801N creates or expands a high-speed wireless N network and connects Ethernet-enabled devices—such as game consoles, digital media adapters, printers, or network-attached storage—to Wi‑Fi. It supports multiple functions and operating modes to adapt to different network layouts and use cases. Designed for small offices and apartments, the device improves wireless performance for downloading, gaming, and video streaming.

Advantages

The access point uses IEEE 802.11n MIMO technology with two antennas to improve signal transmission and reception, extending range and reducing interference through walls and over longer distances. It supports Passive PoE to allow power over an Ethernet cable, enabling flexible placement up to 30 meters away. Multiple operating modes—Access Point, Multi-SSID, Client, and Range Extender—allow deployment for hard-to-wire locations and elimination of wireless dead zones.

Key specifications

• Standard: IEEE 802.11n, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b
• Wireless speed: Wireless N (higher throughput than 802.11g)
• Antennas: Dual external antennas (Tx/Rx MIMO)
• Operating modes: Access Point, Multi-SSID, Client, Range Extender
• Power over Ethernet: Passive PoE support (power and data over Ethernet cable)
• Typical deployment: Small office, apartment; wall or ceiling mounting

How to use

Install the TL-WA801N where a stronger wireless signal is required. Connect the device to your network switch or router via Ethernet; if using Passive PoE, connect a compatible PoE injector to supply power and data over one Ethernet cable. Configure the operating mode (Access Point, Multi-SSID, Client, or Range Extender) through the web-based interface and set SSID, security (WPA/WPA2), and other wireless settings. Position the unit on a wall or ceiling for optimal coverage and test signal strength in intended areas.

Recommendations

Place the access point in a central, elevated location and avoid obstructions and large metal objects. Use the Passive PoE option when wall or ceiling power is unavailable, and choose the appropriate operating mode for the intended use (e.g., Range Extender to cover dead zones or Client mode to connect Ethernet-only devices).
