Volumeregelaar TC Electronic Level Pilot X 34000169 – stereofone passieve monitorcontroller

The TC Electronic Level Pilot X 34000169 is a stereo passive monitor controller designed for accurate analog volume control in desktop and rack-based audio setups. The device provides smooth attenuation of line-level signals for monitoring and headphone feeds without introducing active circuitry, which helps preserve the original signal character and prevents coloration. Its compact form and straightforward connections make it suitable for users who need reliable, precise level adjustments for studio monitors and monitoring systems.

Advantages

The passive design ensures transparent signal handling and eliminates the need for external power, reducing potential noise sources. Simple front-panel control offers a precise and repeatable adjustment range for both channels, while the stereo path maintains channel balance during level changes. The unit's compact construction allows easy integration into small workspaces or larger rack systems without significant setup complexity.

Suitable for

• Nearfield and midfield studio monitoring
• Headphone monitoring and cue mixes
• Mixing and mastering environments that require neutral attenuation
• Live monitoring setups where passive control and signal integrity are important

Key specifications

• Stereo passive attenuation for left and right channels
• Line-level input and output connectivity suitable for monitor feeds
• Compact enclosure for desktop or rack placement
• Precise front-panel level control with smooth response
• No external power required due to passive circuitry

How to use

Connect the monitor controller between your audio interface or mixer outputs and your monitor speakers using appropriate balanced or unbalanced cables. Use the front-panel control to adjust listening level; because the circuit is passive, increments are smooth and maintain the tonal balance. For headphone feeds, route the output to your headphone amplifier or dedicated output path. Check levels at typical listening positions to set a comfortable reference and avoid abrupt large changes that may mask fine level detail.

Recommendations

Place the controller close to your monitoring chain to minimize cable runs and potential interference. Use it as a dedicated monitor level control rather than as a primary gain stage to preserve headroom and maintain consistent monitoring levels during mixing and mastering sessions.
