Externe harde schijf Western Digital My Book Duo 24 TB USB Type-A USB Type-C

The My Book Duo is a high-capacity desktop RAID storage solution designed for storing photos, videos, documents and music. It offers up to 28TB capacity in a single enclosure and connects via USB Type-C with included cables. The drive ships configured in RAID‑0 for maximum performance and can be reconfigured to RAID‑1 for mirrored redundancy or set as two independent volumes (JBOD) using the included WD Drive Utilities software. Built with RAID‑optimized WD Red drives, the unit supports fast sequential transfer speeds (up to 360 MB/s via USB Type‑C) and includes two USB 3.0 Type‑A hub ports for connecting accessories.

Advantages

The enclosure provides very large storage capacity in a compact desktop form factor and supports multiple RAID modes for either speed or data protection. RAID‑optimized WD Red drives inside ensure firmware tuned for two‑drive arrays and reliable read/write integrity. Native USB Type‑C connectivity with included Type‑C to Type‑C and Type‑C to Type‑A cables ensures broad compatibility with USB 3.1/3.0/2.0 hosts. Two front USB 3.0 hub ports add convenience for peripherals and additional storage. Hardware 256‑bit AES encryption with WD Security and password protection helps secure private data.

Key specifications

• Maximum capacity: up to 28 TB
• Interface: USB Type‑C (includes Type‑C to Type‑C and Type‑C to Type‑A cables); compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1/USB 3.0/USB 2.0
• Default RAID configuration: RAID‑0 (reconfigurable to RAID‑1 or JBOD via software)
• Sequential read speed: up to 360 MB/s (using USB Type‑C)
• Internal drives: RAID‑optimized WD Red drives
• Front ports: 2 × USB 3.0 Type‑A hub ports
• Security: 256‑bit AES hardware encryption with WD Security and password protection

How to use

Connect the My Book Duo to your computer using the included USB Type‑C cable (Type‑C to Type‑C or Type‑C to Type‑A depending on your host). The drive mounts as a single volume in the default RAID‑0 configuration; use the included WD Drive Utilities software to change the RAID mode to RAID‑1 for data mirroring or to JBOD to expose the two drives separately. Transfer files using standard file manager operations; for best performance connect via USB 3.1/USB 3.0. To enable encryption, install WD Security and set a password to activate 256‑bit AES hardware encryption.

Recommendations

For large multimedia collections and backups, use RAID‑0 when maximum speed and capacity are required, and switch to RAID‑1 when you need redundancy. Keep regular backups of critical data even when using RAID‑1, and use the included hub ports for connecting peripheral devices or additional external storage.
