Externe harde schijf Western Digital 28 TB USB Type-A USB Type-C My Book Duo

The Western Digital My Book Duo external hard drive offers up to 28TB of storage in a dual-drive desktop enclosure. Configured by default in RAID-0 for maximum performance and able to be reconfigured to RAID-1 for data redundancy or JBOD for independent drives, the unit includes USB Type-C and Type-A connectivity, two front USB 3.0 Type-A hub ports, and 256-bit AES hardware encryption with password protection.

Advantages

The My Book Duo delivers very large capacity in a single desktop device and supports high sequential read speeds (up to 360 MB/s in RAID-0 over the USB Type-C port). It ships with RAID-optimized WD Red drives and WD Drive Utilities software for easy reconfiguration between RAID-0, RAID-1, and JBOD. Included Type-C to Type-C and Type-C to Type-A cables ensure broad compatibility with USB 3.2 Gen 1 (3.1 Gen 1/3.0) and older USB versions.

Suitable for

• Backup and archival of large photo and video libraries
• Fast file transfers and editing workflows for DSLR, action camera and drone footage
• Centralized storage for documents, music and media collections
• Users who need optional redundancy or mirroring (RAID-1)

How to use

Connect the My Book Duo to your computer using the supplied USB Type-C to Type-C cable or the Type-C to Type-A cable depending on your host ports. The drive ships preconfigured in RAID-0 for maximum speed—install WD Drive Utilities to change the configuration to RAID-1 for mirroring or to JBOD for two independent volumes. Use the WD Security application to set a password and enable the 256-bit AES hardware encryption. Access the drive like any external storage device for copying, editing, or backing up files.

Recommendations

For data protection, enable RAID-1 or maintain regular backups of critical files. Use the USB Type-C connection for best transfer rates and ensure your host supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 (3.1 Gen 1) to reach optimal performance. Keep firmware and WD software updated and set a secure password to activate encryption.
