Analoge synthesizer Behringer PROTON (MPN 0718-AAO86-EU1)

Behringer PROTON is an analogue synthesiser designed for hands-on sound creation and performance. Built to provide tactile control over oscillators, filters and modulation, the instrument delivers warm, characterful analogue tones suitable for studio production, live performance and sound design. The PROTON’s front-panel layout and real-time controls make it easy to shape timbres, craft evolving textures and integrate into existing rigs via standard audio and control connections.

Advantages

The Behringer PROTON offers direct physical control of sound parameters, allowing immediate adjustment of oscillator waveforms, filter cutoff and resonance, and modulation routing. Its analogue signal path provides a distinct warmth and harmonic richness often sought in electronic and acoustic hybrid productions. The instrument’s intuitive interface supports quick sound sculpting during studio sessions or live sets, while robust construction and standard connectivity simplify integration with other gear.

Suitable for

• Studio sound design and music production
• Live electronic performance and on-stage sound shaping
• Creating basses, leads, pads and evolving textures
• Educational settings for learning analogue synthesis concepts

Key specifications

• Analogue signal architecture with dedicated oscillator and filter sections
• Hands-on front-panel controls for oscillators, filter, envelopes and modulation
• Real-time modulation routing and performance-oriented controls
• Standard audio outputs for integration with mixers and audio interfaces
• MIDI and/or control connectivity for synchronization with external sequencers and controllers

How to use

Connect the PROTON to a mixer or audio interface using the main audio outputs and set levels to avoid clipping. Use the oscillator section to select waveform types and tune pitch, then shape the sound with the filter cutoff and resonance controls. Apply envelopes and assign modulation sources to target parameters to create movement and dynamics. For live use, set up patches in advance and use the front-panel knobs and performance controls to tweak sounds in real time; for studio use, record directly through an audio interface and refine sounds with outboard effects or DAW processing.

Recommendations

To preserve analogue character, avoid extreme digital processing that removes harmonic content; use EQ and subtle saturation to enhance presence. When integrating with MIDI gear, ensure clock and channel settings match to maintain timing. For stage use, use a noise gate or careful gain staging to reduce unwanted hum or interference.
