AOC SFP28 BlueOptics BO272703Q3M 3 m actieve optische kabel, merk CBO, model SFP28-AOC-3M-LO-BO

The AOC SFP28 BlueOptics BO272703Q3M 3 m active optical cable by CBO is a factory-assembled SFP28 form-factor twinax replacement designed to deliver 25 Gbps full-duplex connectivity over a 3 metre optical link. Intended for short-reach interconnects, this plug-and-play AOC combines optical transmission with an SFP28 mechanical interface to support high-density server, switch and storage port connections while reducing electromagnetic interference and power draw compared with some electrical alternatives.

Advantages

This 3 m active optical cable provides low-latency 25 Gbps links with electrical isolation between connected devices, reducing the risk of ground loops. The AOC design eliminates the need for separate optical transceivers and patch cables, simplifying rack-to-rack and intra-rack cabling. It features low power consumption and compact SFP28 compatibility for high-density deployments, enabling straightforward hot-plug installation and interoperability with standard SFP28 ports.

Suitable for

• High-performance server-to-switch connections in data centres
• Rack-to-rack interconnects where short optical reach is sufficient
• Storage systems and SAN fabric links requiring 25 Gbps throughput
• Environments needing electrical isolation to reduce EMI and grounding issues

Key specifications

• Form factor: SFP28 active optical cable
• Nominal link speed: 25 Gbps (per link, full-duplex)
• Cable length: 3 metres
• Optical type: Active optical assembly with LC-equivalent internal optics
• Power consumption: low-power design suitable for high-density ports
• Connector type: SFP28 plug-in interfaces on both ends
• Reach: short-reach optical interconnect for intra-rack and adjacent racks

How to use

Install the cable by inserting each SFP28 connector into compatible SFP28 ports on the intended devices until the latch clicks. The AOC is designed for plug-and-play operation; most systems will automatically recognise the link and configure the port at 25 Gbps when supported by both ends. Ensure that host devices and switches support SFP28 modules and that firmware or driver policies do not block third-party optics. Handle the cable by the connector housings and avoid excessive bending near the cable ends to preserve performance.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, use this 3 m AOC in short-reach scenarios within the same rack or between adjacent racks. Verify compatibility with your network equipment vendor's supported optics list if strict vendor locking or diagnostics are enforced. Maintain manufacturer-recommended bend radius and avoid tight cable ties; store with protective caps on unused connectors to prevent contamination.
