ASUS ZenWiFi BD4 BE3600 Outdoor 1-pack dualband (2,4 GHz / 5 GHz) Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) wit 2 intern

The ASUS ZenWiFi BD4 Outdoor is a dual-band mesh router designed for outdoor and indoor coverage, supporting Wi‑Fi 7 (802.11be) with combined speeds up to 3600 Mbps. Built for durability, it features an IP65 water- and dust-resistant enclosure, ESD and surge protection, and a wide operating temperature range, while two 2.5G PoE-in ports and multiple mounting options simplify installation in yards, patios, and extended home networks.

Advantages

The router delivers high throughput with Wi‑Fi 7 technologies such as MLO and 4K‑QAM for improved speed and reduced latency, and it works with AiMesh to extend coverage up to approximately 235 m² when combined with compatible ASUS routers. Robust hardware protections and an IP65 rating make it suitable for outdoor environments, and dual 2.5G PoE ports allow power and data over Ethernet for installations where AC power is not convenient. Built‑in network security and Smart Home Master SSIDs provide segmented networks for IoT devices and parental controls.

Suitable for

• Extending reliable Wi‑Fi coverage to yards, patios, and outdoor living spaces
• Outdoor installations on walls, poles, or flat surfaces where weather resistance is required
• Mesh networks with compatible ASUS routers to cover larger homes and properties
• Deployments requiring Power over Ethernet (PoE) to avoid nearby electrical outlets

How to use

Choose a suitable outdoor mounting location (wall, pole, or flat surface) with adequate coverage to your target areas. Connect the router using Power over Ethernet (PoE) or AC power as available; PoE allows powering the unit through an Ethernet cable to one of the two 2.5G PoE‑in ports. Follow the ASUS setup instructions or the AiMesh setup flow in the ASUS Router app or web interface to add the BD4 to an existing AiMesh system or configure it as a standalone mesh node. Configure SSIDs, security settings, and Smart Home Master SSIDs for IoT and parental controls via the app or web GUI.

Recommendations

For optimal outdoor performance, mount the unit at a moderate height clear of large obstructions, use shielded Ethernet cables for PoE runs where possible, and ensure firmware is up to date. When adding nodes to an AiMesh network, place additional compatible ASUS routers so mesh handoff areas overlap slightly to maintain seamless roaming.
