AOC actieve optische kabel CBO SFP-AOC-10G-20M 10G 20m SFP+ direct-attach

The AOC active optical cable CBO SFP-AOC-10G-20M is a 20-metre SFP+ direct-attach link engineered for 10 Gbps short-range connections. It combines optical transmission with integrated SFP+ modules to provide a single-cable solution for interconnecting SFP+ ports in switches, servers and storage systems. The cable is intended to reduce electromagnetic interference and maintain low latency while avoiding the need for separate transceivers, simplifying rack-to-rack and intra-rack cabling in data centre and enterprise environments.

Advantages

This AOC offers a compact and lightweight form factor with optical performance across a 20 m reach, enabling 10 Gbps throughput between SFP+ ports. Integrated modules eliminate the requirement for discrete transceivers and simplify installation and inventory. The optical medium reduces susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and crosstalk compared with copper, while maintaining low latency suitable for server-to-switch and storage interconnects.

Suitable for

• Short-range 10 Gbps interconnects between switches and servers
• Data centre rack-to-rack and intra-rack cabling
• Storage area network links and access to SAN appliances
• Aggregating ports in enterprise network equipment

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP+ direct-attach active optical cable
• Supported data rate: 10 Gbps
• Maximum length: 20 metres
• Medium: active optical fibre with integrated transceiver modules
• Latency: low, suitable for switch-to-server and storage links
• Compatibility: designed for devices with SFP+ ports

How to use

Insert each SFP+ module end into the corresponding SFP+ port on the network devices until the connector latches. No additional transceivers or patch cords are required. Verify link status indicators on connected devices and configure network interfaces as needed for 10 Gbps operation. For hot-pluggable systems, follow device vendor guidance for safe insertion and removal procedures to avoid port damage.

Recommendations

Route the cable with gentle bends and avoid sharp kinks; maintain bend radius as specified by the device vendor. Keep the optical connector end caps in place when not connected to protect the interfaces. Use AOC links within the specified 20 m reach and pair with compatible SFP+ ports to ensure optimal performance and interoperability.
