Draadloos access point Mikrotik NetMetal ax 2,4 GHz 5 GHz

The Mikrotik NetMetal ax is a rugged outdoor wireless access point supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi 6 bands. Designed for long‑range links and harsh conditions, the unit features IP66 protection, a dual‑core ARM CPU, Gigabit Ethernet, a 2.5 Gbps SFP port for fiber, a USB port, and a miniPCIe slot with a NanoSIM holder for optional LTE modems or other expansion cards. Two RP‑SMA antenna connectors let you attach external antennas for extended distances, and a built‑in beeper provides basic audible alerts.

Advantages

The NetMetal ax offers durable outdoor protection with IP66 rating and a design that allows one‑hand opening and closing of the enclosure. It includes modern hardware — dual‑core ARM processor, Wi‑Fi 6 dual‑band radio, Gigabit Ethernet and 2.5 Gbps SFP for fiber — allowing stable, higher‑speed wireless and wired connectivity. The miniPCIe slot and NanoSIM slot enable LTE backup or IoT gateway expansion. Two RP‑SMA connectors support a variety of external antennas to extend range, and the device’s power options include PoE for flexible installation.

Suitable for

• Long‑range outdoor wireless links and point‑to‑point connections
• Outdoor Wi‑Fi coverage for docks, towers, industrial zones and remote sites
• Sites requiring fiber uplink via 2.5 Gbps SFP and Gigabit Ethernet distribution
• Deployments that need LTE backup or additional miniPCIe functionality (e.g., LoRa gateway)

How to use

Mount the NetMetal ax in a suitable outdoor location and connect power via PoE or a compatible power source. Attach external antennas to the RP‑SMA connectors according to your required coverage distance, and connect the Ethernet or SFP fiber link to your network. If mobile backup or additional functionality is needed, install the appropriate miniPCIe card and insert a NanoSIM for LTE service. Configure radio, security and routing settings using the MikroTik management tools to match your link or coverage requirements.

Recommendations

For long‑distance links, select high‑gain directional antennas and verify local regulations for outdoor transmissions. While the device supports long links, achievable distance and link reliability depend on antenna choice, line‑of‑sight conditions and local interference.
