HDD/SSD-behuizing Fantec ALU-25U3 zwart 2,5 inch

The Fantec ALU-25U3 Black 2.5" is a compact HDD/SSD enclosure designed to house a single 2.5-inch storage drive. Constructed from aluminium and finished in black, the enclosure provides a portable solution for connecting SATA-based laptop drives to a host system via USB 3.0. Its lightweight aluminium body aids heat dissipation while keeping the overall unit compact for transport and storage.

Advantages

The aluminium housing offers improved thermal conduction compared with plastic enclosures, helping to dissipate drive heat during sustained transfers. USB 3.0 connectivity enables high-speed data throughput with backward compatibility to older USB ports. The single-drive design and modest weight make the enclosure easy to carry and suitable for temporary expansion, data migration, cloning, or backup tasks.

Suitable for

• Connecting a 2.5" HDD or SSD to a laptop or desktop via USB 3.0
• Portable storage for data transfer between systems
• Cloning or imaging of a single 2.5" drive
• Temporary backup or rescue of data from an internal drive

Key specifications

• Drive form factor supported: 2.5-inch SATA drives (HDD or SSD)
• Number of drives supported: 1
• Interface to host: USB 3.0 (backward compatible with USB 2.0)
• Material: aluminium housing for improved heat dissipation
• Product colour: black
• Weight: approximately 0.45 kg

How to use

Open the enclosure according to the manufacturer’s instructions, insert the 2.5" SATA drive and secure it in the bay. Connect the enclosure to a computer using the supplied USB 3.0 cable; the operating system should recognise the drive automatically without additional drivers in most modern systems. Use standard file management tools or disk utilities to read, write, partition, or clone the drive as required.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, ensure the SATA drive is properly seated and the enclosure is closed securely before connecting. Use USB 3.0 ports for optimal transfer speeds and avoid prolonged exposure to high ambient temperatures to maintain drive longevity. For frequent transport, consider using a protective pouch to prevent scratches and impacts.
