HDD/SSD-behuizing Synology DX1222 12 drives 192 TB zwart

The Synology DX1222 is an HDD/SSD expansion enclosure that adds 12 bays to your DiskStation, supporting up to 192 TB of additional capacity. Compatible with 2.5" and 3.5" drives and featuring hot-swap capability, the DX1222 connects to a host NAS to extend storage without taking services offline.

Advantages

Online volume expansion lets you create new volumes or expand existing RAID volumes from DiskStation Manager (DSM) without reformatting drives. The enclosure supports fast setup — additional storage becomes available shortly after connecting to the host NAS. Using Synology drives with the DX1222 helps maintain reliability and performance. Centralized drive management in DSM enables monitoring, maintenance, and administration of drives across both the expansion unit and the primary NAS.

Suitable for

• Businesses and home offices that need to expand storage capacity without downtime
• Environments using mixed 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives
• Setups that require hot-swappable drive replacement and centralized drive management

Recommendations

For optimal reliability and performance, use Synology-certified HDDs or SSDs and follow Synology's compatibility list. Ensure the host NAS firmware and DSM are up to date before expanding storage, and perform regular backups when modifying RAID configurations or expanding volumes.
