HPE 24-poorts 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ MACsec v3 zl2-module Gigabit Ethernet

The HPE 24-port 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ MACsec v3 zl2 Module Gigabit Ethernet provides 24 copper Gigabit Ethernet ports with integrated Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) capability. Designed for use with compatible HP 5400R series chassis, the module supports standard Ethernet speeds and offers MACsec v3 support for enhanced link-layer security. The compact module dimensions and modest weight make it suitable for dense rack deployments where increased port density and powered device support are required.

Advantages

This module delivers a combination of full Gigabit copper connectivity and PoE+ power delivery on 24 ports, enabling simultaneous data and power transmission to edge devices. MACsec v3 support adds hardware-level encryption and integrity checks to protect traffic between switches. Its compliance with common Ethernet standards ensures interoperability with existing network equipment, while the low-profile form factor helps conserve chassis slot space.

Suitable for

• Enterprise access layer requiring high port density and PoE+ for IP phones and wireless access points
• Small to medium data center aggregation within HP 5400R series chassis
• Secure link-layer environments needing MACsec-enabled connections
• Network refresh projects where compact, hot-swappable modules are preferred

How to use

Install the module into a compatible HP 5400R series switch chassis according to the chassis installation procedures and safety guidelines. After seating the module and securing it, connect copper Gigabit Ethernet cables to the RJ-45 ports and configure PoE and MACsec settings through the switch operating system or management interface. Verify power budget allocation and port-level security policies to ensure connected devices receive the required power and encrypted links are enabled where needed.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, confirm chassis firmware and switch software are updated to versions that support PoE+ and MACsec v3 features. Plan PoE power budgets based on the maximum draw of connected devices, and enable MACsec selectively for links requiring hardware-based encryption to balance performance and security.
