The Hikvision Pro Series DS-2CD2786G2HT-IZS(2.8-12)/eF/BLK is an outdoor IP security camera offering 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) in a dome form factor. Designed for ceiling or wall installation, the camera supports 360° rotation and a motorized varifocal lens with a focal length range of 2.8–12 mm, providing a horizontal field of view from 112.3° down to 41.2° and a vertical field of view from 58.1° to 23.1°. With a reported detection range up to 216 m and wired Ethernet connectivity, the unit targets comprehensive surveillance tasks where high image detail and reliable network performance are required.

Advantages

This model delivers high-resolution video for accurate identification and situational awareness while keeping bandwidth and storage efficiency in mind through optimized encoding. The motorized varifocal lens enables flexible framing and zoom without manual adjustment. The dome design and ceiling/wall mounting options facilitate discreet and durable outdoor deployment, and built-in video motion detection assists automated event capture. The camera’s black finish and compact weight support integration into various external environments.

How to use

Mount the camera on a compatible ceiling or wall surface according to the site layout, ensuring a stable wired Ethernet connection and appropriate power supply. Use the motorized zoom to set framing and focal length remotely through the camera’s configuration interface or compatible NVR/management software. Adjust rotation and aim to cover priority areas; enable video motion detection in the device settings to record events or trigger alerts. Verify network bandwidth and storage settings to match the chosen resolution and frame rate, and test image quality across expected lighting conditions.

Recommendations

For reliable outdoor operation, install the camera under a protective overhang when possible, run Ethernet cabling in conduit and ground the system per local regulations. Configure motion detection sensitivity and define activity zones to reduce false alarms. When long-range identification is required, select a narrower field of view and higher zoom within the varifocal range; for broad coverage, choose the wider focal setting. Integrate the camera with an NVR or VMS that supports 4K streams and Hikvision-compatible features to ensure full use of analytics and recording options.
