KVM-switch Inter-Tech 88887340

The Inter-Tech 88887340 KVM switch enables control of two computers from a single keyboard, mouse and monitor. It uses USB connections for keyboard and mouse and an HDMI connector for video output, supporting resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 60 Hz. The unit is housed in a compact black plastic enclosure and is designed for continuous use with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 120,000 hours. This KVM switch is intended for environments where space efficiency and straightforward switching between systems are required.

Advantages

The Inter-Tech 88887340 reduces desktop clutter by sharing one set of input devices and one display between two computers. USB support for keyboard and mouse ensures compatibility with modern peripherals, while the HDMI video interface delivers high-resolution output suitable for text, office applications and graphical interfaces up to 2048 x 1536 at 60 Hz. Its compact, lightweight construction and durable plastic housing make it easy to place on or under a desk and simplify cable routing. A high MTBF rating indicates stable long-term operation.

Suitable for

• Home office setups where a single workstation controls two PCs
• Small offices needing quick switching between systems
• IT maintenance stations or test benches for software and hardware diagnostics
• Environments requiring a compact KVM solution with HDMI and USB connectivity

How to use

Connect the HDMI cable from the KVM switch to the monitor and plug the USB keyboard and USB mouse into the corresponding USB ports on the unit. Use the provided HDMI and USB cables to connect each computer to the switch according to the labeling for Computer 1 and Computer 2. Power on the monitor and both connected computers. Switch control between computers using the selection method supported by the device (hardware button or keyboard hotkey if available). Verify display resolution settings on each connected computer to match the supported maximum resolution if required.

Recommendations

Place the KVM switch in a ventilated area and route cables to avoid sharp bends. Use quality HDMI and USB cables to maintain signal integrity at higher resolutions. When switching frequently between machines, allow a short delay for the operating systems to recognize the shared keyboard and mouse. For stable display output, set each computer’s video output to a resolution compatible with 2048 x 1536 @ 60 Hz.
