Plustek OpticBook 4800 flatbedscanner 1200 x 1200 DPI A4 zwart

Plustek OpticBook 4800 is a flatbed book and document scanner designed to capture pages up to A4 size (216 x 297 mm) with an optical resolution of 1200 x 1200 DPI. The scanner uses a CCD sensor and LED light source and provides 48-bit input color depth. Its 2 mm book edge design enables near-edge scanning of bound materials while reducing stress on book spines. The device connects via USB 2.0 and has a daily duty cycle rated up to 2500 pages, making it suitable for both individual and light-to-moderate institutional use.

Advantages

The OpticBook 4800 delivers sharp, high-resolution images suitable for archival and everyday reference. Its special 2 mm book edge design and LED illumination allow non-destructive scanning of bound books with minimal shadowing near the gutter. Bundled image-processing tools, OCR and searchable PDF conversion simplify digitization and make scanned content easy to store, search and reuse. The scanner is energy-efficient due to the LED light source and is compact and lightweight for easy placement in offices, libraries or home workspaces.

How to use

Place the book face-down on the platen aligned to the scanner’s edges so the page to capture sits within the 216 x 297 mm scan area. Close the lid gently if present, or leave it open if scanning thick bindings; the 2 mm book edge design reduces shadowing near the spine. Use the supplied software to select resolution, color depth and output format (PDF, JPG, searchable PDF via OCR). Start the scan from the software or the hardware controls, review the preview, then save or export the image in the desired format.

Recommendations

For optimal results, keep pages flat and clean, choose 300–600 DPI for standard text scans and 1200 DPI for high-detail archival needs; enable OCR and searchable PDF conversion when you need editable or searchable content. Ensure USB 2.0 connection to maintain transfer speed and allow regular breaks when scanning high volumes to match the recommended daily duty cycle.
