S/FTP-patchkabel Cat6 Draka Comteq 5 m Blauw

The Draka Comteq S/FTP Patch Cable Cat6 in blue is a 5-meter network patch cable designed for high-speed Ethernet connections. Constructed with individually shielded twisted pairs and an overall foil shield, this Cat6 cable reduces electromagnetic interference and crosstalk, providing stable data transmission suitable for professional network environments. The cable supports Gigabit and multi-gigabit applications and is suitable for structured cabling in offices, server rooms and data center patch panels.

Advantages

The cable's S/FTP design (shielded/foiled twisted pairs) offers enhanced protection against external noise and internal pair-to-pair interference, improving signal integrity over longer runs. A Category 6 specification ensures support for high bandwidth and low latency, while the 5 m length provides flexibility for common workstation and rack-to-rack connections. The blue jacket helps with visual identification in multi-cable installations and routing.

Suitable for

• Connecting desktop computers, switches and routers within office networks
• Patch panel to switch connections in server rooms and data closets
• High-speed network segments requiring reduced electromagnetic interference

Key specifications

• Cable category: Cat6
• Shielding: S/FTP (overall foil shield with individually shielded twisted pairs)
• Length: 5 meters
• Color: Blue
• Data rates: supports up to 10 Gbps over appropriate channel lengths
• Connector type: RJ45 terminated on both ends
• Typical use: Ethernet networking, patching and structured cabling

How to use

Connect one RJ45 end of the patch cable to the network device (such as a switch, router or network interface on a PC) and the other end to the corresponding port on the patch panel, wall outlet or another device. Ensure connectors are fully inserted and that cable routing does not subject the cable to excessive bending, crushing or sharp edges. For optimal performance, avoid running the cable in parallel and close proximity to strong electrical sources or unshielded power cables.

Recommendations

For best results in high-traffic or interference-prone environments, use the S/FTP Cat6 cable for short to medium-length connections within rack cabinets and office floor layouts. Inspect connectors periodically for secure seating and replace the cable if the jacket or connectors show visible damage. Where 10 Gbps performance is required, verify channel components and overall link length meet Cat6 installation guidelines.
