Sony FE 85mm F1.8 MILC/SLR Teleobjectief Zwart

FE 85mm F1.8, 67 mm, 371 g. The Sony FE 85mm F1.8 (SEL85F18.SYX) is a compact, lightweight telephoto prime designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras and compatible with APS-C bodies. Its large F1.8 maximum aperture and high-performance optics deliver sharp images with smooth bokeh, making it well suited for portraiture and event photography.

Advantages

The lens combines ED glass elements for chromatic aberration control, a 9-blade circular aperture and optical design that controls spherical aberration to produce high sharpness and pleasing out-of-focus rendering. At 371 g and a short 67 mm filter thread, the lens is highly portable while maintaining strong image quality. A double linear motor focus drive ensures fast, precise and quiet autofocus, beneficial for both stills and video. Additional features include a customizable focus-hold button, a wide, responsive focus ring and a dust- and moisture-resistant design.

Suitable for

• Portrait photography on full-frame and APS-C Sony E-mount cameras

How to use

Mount the lens on a Sony E-mount camera body and set the camera to the desired exposure mode. Use the wide f/1.8 aperture to achieve shallow depth of field for portrait subject separation; stop down as needed for greater depth of field. Use the focus ring for manual focus or rely on the camera AF system driven by the lens’s double linear motors for quick, quiet autofocus. Use the customizable focus-hold button to lock focus during framing or to assign another supported function via the camera menu. Clean the front element and filter threads before attaching filters.

Recommendations

For best portrait results, position the subject several metres from the background and use the f/1.8 aperture to maximise subject separation and smooth bokeh. When shooting outdoors in wet or dusty conditions, use a protective filter and ensure the lens mount and seals are kept clean to maintain the dust- and moisture-resistant performance.
