SYNOLOGY uitbreidingseenheid RX1222SAS 12bay voor SA3600 / SA3400

The Synology RX1222sas is a 2U HDD/SSD enclosure designed to expand rackmount storage by adding up to 12 additional 2.5"/3.5" SAS or SATA drives per unit. Multiple RX1222sas units can be connected to a compatible Synology host to scale capacity, supporting up to seven expansion units for a combined increase in storage without interrupting services. The enclosure supports hot-swappable drives and offers a compact black design suitable for server racks.

Advantages

RX1222sas provides straightforward capacity growth with online volume expansion handled by Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). Setup and management are simple: connect the included expansion cable and use DSM Storage Manager to configure new volumes or expand existing RAID volumes without reformatting drives. The unit features hot-swappable trays, redundant power supplies and replaceable fans for reduced maintenance impact, and is compatible with Synology SAS and SATA enterprise drives tested for integration and reliability.

Suitable for

• Scaling storage for Synology rackmount systems
• Environments requiring hot-swap drive replacement
• RAID volume expansion and archival storage

How to use

Connect the RX1222sas to a compatible Synology rackmount host using the included expansion cable and power on both units. In Synology DiskStation Manager, open Storage Manager to discover the new enclosure, create new volumes or expand existing RAID arrays, and apply desired storage policies. Replace drives using the hot-swap trays while the system is running, and service fans or power supplies as needed with redundant units installed to maintain uptime.

Recommendations

For optimal performance and compatibility, use Synology-certified SAS or SATA enterprise drives and follow Synology’s guidelines for maximum supported expansion units. Ensure redundant power configuration in racks and perform drive replacements one at a time to avoid RAID rebuild complications.
