The TP-Link EAP650-DESKTOP is a dual-band wireless access point that operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies and delivers aggregate data rates up to 1000 Mbit/s. Housed in a compact white desktop enclosure, the unit provides four Ethernet LAN ports for wired connections and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) to simplify placement without separate power outlets. The device is suitable for small offices, retail spaces, and home environments where flexible, high-speed wireless coverage is required.

Advantages

The dual-band design reduces interference and enables simultaneous connections across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands for improved throughput and device compatibility. PoE support allows for flexible installation locations and reduces cable clutter by carrying power and data over a single Ethernet cable. The four integrated Ethernet ports provide additional wired connectivity for devices that require stable, low-latency links. The compact white housing is unobtrusive and fits standard interior environments.

Suitable for

Small to medium-sized offices requiring centralized wireless access
Retail and hospitality areas with multiple client devices
Home networks needing expanded Wi‑Fi coverage and wired ports
Temporary deployments where easy installation and PoE are beneficial

Key specifications

Wireless bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Maximum combined data rate: up to 1000 Mbit/s
Ethernet LAN ports: 4 × RJ-45
Power method: Power over Ethernet (PoE) supported
Color: white
Form factor: desktop access point
Weight: 0.452 kg

How to use

Place the EAP650-DESKTOP on a stable surface in a central location for best wireless coverage. Connect one Ethernet cable from a PoE-capable switch or PoE injector to the device to provide both power and network connectivity. Use the remaining Ethernet LAN ports to connect wired devices such as desktop PCs, printers, or networked storage. Configure wireless settings, SSIDs, security (WPA2/WPA3 where supported), and band steering via the device’s management interface or centralized controller according to the network plan.

Recommendations

Position the access point at an elevated, unobstructed spot away from large metal objects and microwave sources to minimize interference. For mixed device environments, enable both bands and consider separate SSIDs for legacy and modern devices. Use PoE-capable network equipment or a compatible injector rated for the device’s power requirements to ensure reliable operation.
