The Edimax ES-5800G V2 is an unmanaged 8-port Gigabit desktop switch delivering 10/100/1000 Mbps connectivity in a compact plastic housing. It complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3az standards and uses store-and-forward switching with a MAC address table capable of handling typical SOHO and small office network needs. The plug-and-play design requires no configuration and provides reliable wired connections for PCs, network storage, printers and other Ethernet devices.

How to use

Place the ES-5800G V2 on a stable, ventilated surface near your network devices and power outlet. Connect each PC, NAS, printer or other Ethernet device to the RJ-45 ports using standard Ethernet cables; the switch will automatically detect link speed and duplex (auto-negotiation) and adjust accordingly. Power the unit on; LED indicators will show port and link activity. No additional configuration is required for basic network expansion.

Recommendations

For best performance, use quality Cat5e or Cat6 cables for Gigabit connections and keep the device in a cool, dust-free environment. When transferring very large files or streaming high-definition media, enable connected devices to use jumbo frames if supported to improve throughput.
