Ventilator Fractal Design Silent Series R3 80 mm

The Fractal Design Silent Series R3 80 mm fan combines compact size with reliable, quiet operation. With an 80 mm diameter and maximum speed of 1600 RPM, this 12 V fan delivers up to 0.99 mmH2O air pressure in a 80 × 80 × 25 mm frame. Available in black and white, the Silent Series R3 is designed for efficient case airflow and straightforward replacement of noisy or worn fans.

Advantages

The Silent Series R3 uses long-life rifle bearings for improved durability and lower noise compared with standard sleeve bearings. It features a low-profile black ribbon cable for easier cable management and a balanced, sturdy fan design that provides dependable performance at a reasonable price. Low maximum fan speed helps keep acoustic levels down while the black-and-white color options match most builds.

How to use

Power the fan from a compatible 12 V fan header or adapter, ensuring correct connector type and polarity. Mount the fan in the intended location (case, chassis, or device) using the appropriate screws or rubber mounts, aligning airflow direction as needed for intake or exhaust. Make sure the ribbon cable is routed to avoid contact with blades and secured for a tidy installation.

Recommendations

For quiet operation, install the fan at standard case voltages and avoid running it at maximum RPM continuously. Periodically clean dust from the blades and bearing area to maintain airflow and prolong bearing life.
