IP-camera Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G3-2IZY (varifocaal 2,8/4 mm)

Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G3-2IZY is a network IP camera with a varifocal 2.8/4 mm lens that provides flexible viewing angles for indoor and outdoor video surveillance. Designed to integrate with standard IP-based security systems, the camera supports perimeter monitoring, entrance coverage and general site observation while simplifying installation and alignment thanks to its two focal options.

Advantages

The varifocal 2.8/4 mm lens enables quick adjustment between wider and narrower fields of view without changing the physical camera. Network connectivity ensures compatibility with common NVRs and video management platforms. The design is suitable for installation in various environments and the optical options make it easier to capture licence plates, faces, or wider contextual scenes depending on placement and focal choice.

Suitable for

• Perimeter and property boundary surveillance
• Entrance and access point monitoring
• Retail floor and corridor observation
• Office and common-area security
• Small- to medium-sized site oversight

Key specifications

• Optics: varifocal lens with selectable focal lengths 2.8 mm and 4 mm for flexible field of view
• Connection: IP network camera compatible with common network video recorders and VMS solutions
• Installation: suitable for indoor and outdoor mounting when paired with appropriate housings and brackets
• Viewing options: wide-angle and narrow-angle perspectives depending on lens selection and mounting height
• Power options: standard PoE or local power supply depending on system design (verify with installer)

How to use

Install the camera at a location that provides the desired field of view, then select the 2.8 mm focal setting for a wider scene or 4 mm for a narrower, more detailed view. Connect the camera to your network and configure IP settings using your recorder or video management software. Adjust angle and focus on-site to ensure important areas such as entrances or perimeters are within the frame. Test day and night performance and refine exposure or WDR settings if available in the system.

Recommendations

For best results, mount the camera at a height and distance that match the chosen focal length: use the 2.8 mm setting for broader coverage and the 4 mm setting when you need more detail at longer distances. Use PoE to simplify cabling where supported, and consult your network video recorder or VMS documentation for optimal encoding and retention settings.
