Ubiquiti UniFi Retrofit Reader wit UA-Retrofit-Reader-W

Traditional access readers often protrude awkwardly from walls, disrupting clean architectural lines. The UniFi Retrofit Reader White (UA-Retrofit-Reader-W) takes a different approach: it mounts flush over existing single-gang electrical boxes, transforming legacy wiring into a sleek NFC and Bluetooth access point. This low-profile device preserves the minimalist aesthetic of UniFi Access installations while delivering encrypted credential verification directly at the door.

Highlights

• Retrofit design fits standard single-gang electrical boxes (US/EU/UK)
• Supports NFC cards (MIFARE Classic/DESFire) and UniFi Access mobile app via Bluetooth
• Power over Ethernet (802.3af) via UniFi Access Hub – no local power adapter needed
• Encrypted communication between reader and hub for secure access transactions
• Status LED provides clear visual feedback for granted/denied access
• Indoor-rated polycarbonate enclosure with wide operating temperature range

In daily use

Installation is straightforward: mount the reader over an existing single-gang box, connect the Ethernet cable to the UniFi Access Hub, and adopt it in the UniFi Access application. Users simply present an NFC card or use the UniFi Access mobile app to unlock doors. The reader’s compact profile and white finish blend seamlessly with modern interiors, making it ideal for offices, retail spaces, and multi-tenant buildings where a discreet yet powerful access solution is required.
