Takkenzaag Silky Bigboy 36 cm aluminium handgreep hout

The Silky Bigboy pruning saw features a long 36 cm (about 14 in) blade designed for cutting larger limbs, small trunks and various construction tasks. It combines an extended cutting capacity with a lightweight, thicker aluminium handle to provide reach and control for bigger cutting jobs. Available in multiple tooth configurations, the Bigboy is intended for users who need greater cutting length and a longer stroke than typical folding saws.

Advantages

The Bigboy offers a longer blade and stroke for faster cutting of large-diameter wood while remaining lightweight; the aluminium handle is thicker and stronger than standard folding saw handles. Multiple tooth patterns (from coarse to fine) let you match the saw to the material — from green wood and pruning to hard wood and bamboo. One model (Bigboy 2000 XL) has a curved blade for specific cutting needs, while other tooth sizes use straight blades.

Suitable for

• Pruning large limbs and small trunks
• Cutting green wood and general pruning tasks
• Working with soft wood and fast rip cuts
• Finer work in hard wood and bamboo (fine-tooth version)
• Construction or site tasks requiring extended reach

How to use

Open the folding saw until the blade locks securely in the open position. Select the tooth configuration suited to the material: coarse teeth for green wood and pruning, medium for soft wood, and fine teeth for hard wood or bamboo. Position the blade on the cut line and use long, steady strokes to let the long blade and stroke do the work; avoid excessive downward force. After cutting, fold the blade back into the handle and ensure the lock is engaged for safe storage and transport.

Recommendations

Use the appropriate tooth version for the material to extend blade life and improve efficiency. Inspect the blade and locking mechanism before use, and wear suitable hand protection. Note the source text lists a weight of 570 g (1.25 lb) while product data states approx. 450 g; confirm the correct weight with the seller if this is critical for your application.
